Ciao a tutti,
Ieri stavo facendo qualche esercizio sulle participle clauses sul mio
coursebook per il CAE, quando mi è venuto un dubbio.
Il libro divide questo tipo di frasi in tre categorie: reason, result or
consequence, time. Questi sono gli esempi dati:
a) reason
We all took umbrellas _because_ we had noticed that it was raining
-> We all took our umbrellas, having noticed that it was raining
b) result or consequence
She had been told that she could fail her final exams, _so_ she started
studying all hours of the day and night.
-> Told that she could fail her final exams, she started studying all hours
of the day and night.
c) time:
_Once_ she had finished the report, she decided it was time to go home.
-> Having finished the report, she decided it was time to go home.
A me sembrerebbe corretto anche scrivere "having been told that she could
fail her final exams..." nella frase B. E' giusto o è corretta solo
l'opzione indicata dal libro?
Grazie mille a chi vorrà rispondermi.
Tschüss,
Enrico il Pentolaio.
