Yep ! e interpretazioni

Ho sempre pensato a "Yep" come a un si enfatico. Un si piu' forte, come un
"si certo". E' corretto tale uso ?
Ho avuto il dubbio perche' stamane un americano mi chiede se avevo mandato
un fax a una sua collega, e io gli ho risposto: Yep Kevin, etc....

Inoltre, altra curiosita' conferma.
Se un americano ti scrive in apertura mail:

Paolo, did you get.... etc. etc.

Ti sta dando del tu ?
Cioe' interpreto giusto nel ritenere che ogni qualvolta usano il nome al
posto del Mr.+cognome si tratta del nostro "tu" ?

Infine. Quanto e' educato o quanto e' informale chiudere una lettera con "so
long" ?

I'd say it's _less_ emphatic than "yes" _in itself_. It _may also_ be
intended, ironically, as more emphatic than it, much like "mi parrebbe
di sì" when you mean "cazzo, bella scoperta!" (just an example).
(faccina) So, if I received your fax, I'd see your "yep" as a "lighter"
"yes" most of the time, but might feel it was cold, rude if I had reason
to believe you were sarcastic.

Secondo me (pura sensazione) e' un po' meno informale del nostro tu;
direi che sta a mezzo tra il nostro "lei" e il nostro "tu".

"Yep" è un sì normalissimo, solo più informale di "yes".

Lo si usa tranquillamente tra amici e colleghi con cui si è in
confidenza, ma è piuttosto fuori luogo in situazioni più formali (per
esempio, difficilmente lo userei con il mio capo).
